Why don't my statistics match the duration of a fast?
Understand individual fasts, daily portions and period totals before comparing numbers.
A fast's duration, a calendar day's hours and a week's total describe different things. Start with the dates and units of the view you are reading.
Check the whole fast
Open Statistics → Data (tray icon, top-left corner) → Fasting to inspect a completed record's start, end and duration. The individual-fast chart also shows whole-fast durations, while total-time charts group time into date buckets.
Calendar hours belong to that day
The calendar grid shows fasting hours within each calendar day. A fast from 18:00 to 10:00 the next day contributes 6 hours to the first day and 10 to the second. It remains one 16-hour record.
The month summary uses whole fasts that overlap the month. Its total can differ from the sum of daily portions when records cross a month boundary.
Find trends and period totals
Scroll down in Statistics to Trends. Week, Month, and Year change the displayed period. Individual-fast charts show durations; fasting and eating total charts group time into date buckets. Read the chart heading, date range and units before comparing a bar with one completed fast.
If totals look unexpected, check the dates and Overlapping Fasts warning, then correct the relevant records.
Ongoing fasts and overlapping records
An ongoing fast can contribute to Statistics before you save it. Data is the place to check completed records specifically.
Overlaps can count the same period through more than one record. If the numbers still look wrong, inspect overlaps, check the period heading, then contact me with the view, date range and numbers you are comparing.
Streak numbers use their own qualifying rules. See why a streak broke.
